Alerted by Dr M. in Cornwall, here is a distant relative of his, Dr John Alderson.
This statue was moved from its original site at the old Hull Royal Infirmary in Albion Street and moved to the new hospital on Anlaby Road. 
Apparently there were three statues erected in his memory. One is in the north transept of Holy Trinity Church and the other was in the vestibule of the Hull Mechanics Institute.
